Zero Gravity UAE to Manufacture Zero-Emission Electric Buses and Passenger Vehicles in Abu Dhabi
Tariq Al Hosani: Electric vehicles are the safest, most comfortable and most economical option, poised to make significant inroads into local and Arab markets.
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Zero Gravity, an Emirati advanced technology company and a leader in technology and artificial intelligence across the Middle East and North Africa, has announced an exclusive memorandum of understanding with Nanjin Dragon Bus Co., Ltd, a leading Chinese manufacturer of electric vehicles.
Under this agreement, Zero Gravity will establish a state-of-the-art facility in Abu Dhabi to manufacture electric buses and passenger vehicles equipped with long-range, high-quality batteries. These vehicles will be marketed not only within the UAE but also across the Arab Gulf states and the broader Middle East and North Africa region.
Zero Gravity’s project is slated to begin in three months. The initiative aims to reduce dependency on imported electric vehicles, enhance local manufacturing, contribute significantly to the UAE’s GDP, and create employment opportunities for hundreds of university and college graduates.
Mr. Tariq Al Hosani, CEO of Zero Gravity, remarked: “This project represents a significant investment in transforming traditional bus engines, including school buses, to electric-powered motors. We will manufacture public transportation buses and other vehicles powered by electric energy, ensuring zero carbon emissions for student and passenger transport. This initiative will greatly contribute to environmental preservation and clean air, positioning the UAE as a pioneer in modern transportation services.”
Al Hosani emphasized the substantial impact of electric vehicles on reducing carbon emissions across the UAE, while also delivering significant savings in fuel, spare parts, and maintenance. This project aligns with the UAE’s goals of achieving net-zero carbon emissions in the near future.
Highlighting the importance of the locally manufactured electric buses, Al Hosani stated: “Our facility will produce various types of green buses with advanced safety systems, all connected to an electronic application developed by Zero Gravity. These buses will meet all safety standards and requirements and will be competitively priced. Regular inspection services will also be provided.”
Zero Gravity plans to invest $300 million in developing this industrial facility and welcomes investments from both local and international companies. Al Hosani stressed the importance of local production to stimulate the UAE’s industrial sector and generate job opportunities for graduates, particularly those in engineering and technical fields.
Al Hosani concluded: “Once production begins, our electric vehicles will be marketed across the Arab Gulf countries and beyond. This aligns with the global trend towards green vehicles, reducing carbon emissions, and contributing to environmental preservation.”
This initiative by Zero Gravity represents a significant step towards sustainable transportation, promising economic growth, environmental benefits, and technological advancement in the UAE and the wider region.
